Speaking to ESPN in an uncovered interview from 2017, the actor was asked whether he had taken the performance enhacing drugs, to which he said: “Yes, I have. When you want to be the best, you do whatever it takes.”
When he was pressed further on the matter, he then added: “Can we just skip those questions?”
It has since been revealed that the 6ft 9ins competitor has ‘never failed a drug test’ during his competing, so it is not likely that he was taking steroids at the time of his competition.
He is the first person to have won the Arnold Strongman Classic, Europe’s Strongest Man and World’s Strongest Man in the same year.
Hafhor previously played basketball professionally when he lived in Iceland, but his career was cut short due to an ankle injury, so he went on to become a pro strongman.
